About

Smilin V Scout Ranch Camping Programs include Cub Scout weekend camping, Cub Scout Day Camps, Webelos Woods, training events, and camporees. The program also offers fishing for youth members only on a catch-and-release basis, as well as BB gun and archery events limited to Cub Scouts shooting sports.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Price: Capitol Area Council units are required to pay $5 per youth/adult to use council camping properties for regular weekend camping or day events. Out of council units have to pay $10 per camper (youth or adult).

BB gun and archery events at Smilin V Scout Ranch are conducted by Capitol Area Council Shooting Sports Committee trained range masters at district or council events. The council that operates these programs began in 1912 and supports Scouting programs in 15 Central Texas counties: Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, DeWitt, Fayette, Gillespie, Gonzales, Hays, Lavaca, Lee, Llano, Mason, Travis, and Williamson. The council’s stated mission is to prepare boys and girls from all social, economic, and religious backgrounds to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Families are asked to turn in a roster of participants, including adults, at check-in and to bring a completed Scouting America Medical Form (parts A and B) for every participating Scout and adult, remove all trash and signage from camp, and avoid using the serving kitchen for cooking or food storage.
