Smilin V Scout Ranch Camping Programs include Cub Scout weekend camping, Cub Scout Day Camps, Webelos Woods, training events, and camporees. Activities at the ranch also include fishing for youth members only on a catch and release basis, as well as BB gun and archery events for Cub Scouts shooting sports only, conducted by Capitol Area Council Shooting Sports Committee trained range masters at district or council events.

Smilin V Scout Ranch has 91 acres of improved Hill Country ranch land with 8 campsites, men’s and women’s restrooms and shower facilities, and a pavilion with picnic table seating for 200 and a serving kitchen. The serving kitchen is available by separate online reservation, has no cooking equipment, does not allow cooking, and does not allow any food items to be left in the refrigerator. Campsites are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, and Cub Scout Packs may camp overnight for two nights at the ranch. Fishing is limited to youth members and is catch and release only, and ATVs, Mules, Gators, Rhinos, tractors, and mowers are prohibited. Parking is restricted to the parking lot only, ADA parking can be accommodated by contacting the Ranger or Campmaster on duty, and bringing a wagon or hand cart to move camping gear from the parking lot to the campsite is recommended. Any trash or signage must be removed from camp, nothing may be left on camp, and ground fires are prohibited except at the campfire area located west of the pavilion, with propane camp stoves recommended instead of charcoal.
All units must follow all Capitol Area Council and National Scouting America policies, and Cub Scout Packs must submit a Cub Scout Unit Camping Permit application form at least 90 days before the camping trip. At least one adult leader must be BALOO trained for Cub Scout activities, and BB gun and archery events are conducted by Capitol Area Council Shooting Sports Committee trained range masters at district or council events. Scouts BSA Troops may not camp at Smilin V except for district and council events, and any other exception requires written permission. Smilin V Scout Ranch is available for outside groups by special request, including events such as weddings and reunions. A roster of participants, including adults, must be turned in at check-in, and a completed Scouting America Medical Form (parts A and B) is required for every participating Scout and adult.
