Livingston Montessori School, 622 W Noblitt St, Livingston, TX 77351
About
Livingston Montessori School follows the Montessori approach to education, with students working in a prepared environment that emphasizes unstructured, individual learning. Students make choices, set their own pace, and work with materials through their senses by manipulating objects and interacting with others in an inquiring, cooperative, and nurturing atmosphere. The school considers each student as a whole person, including physical, emotional, social, aesthetic, spiritual, and cognitive needs and interests, and uses a positive approach in which discipline comes from within the student as part of an active, self-disciplined group.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
Livingston Montessori School offers a Primary toddler program for ages 2–3 years that focuses on independence, social awareness, respect, and the development of motor skills and language, with a 1½-hour work period for classroom activities. The Pre-Kindergarten program for ages 3–5 years uses a curriculum based on Montessori education and current child development research. The Private School program for grades K–12 teaches that education includes the ability to concentrate, read and write fluently, research with confidence, complete projects, and work productively. Additional offerings include tutoring, after-school programs, and summer camps. The school’s mission states that children need to be in a school environment where self-esteem is protected and encouraged and where learning is natural, developmentally appropriate, and fun, and that Livingston Montessori School offers that world to every student. The program also emphasizes cultivating love, respect, appreciation, and caring attitudes for oneself, others, the environment, and all life as part of the child’s development process.
