Livingston Montessori School

Livingston Montessori School follows the Montessori approach to education. The program offers freedom within a prepared environment that emphasizes unstructured, individual learning, where students make choices, set their own pace, and learn through their senses by manipulating materials and interacting with others. Learning takes place in an inquiring, cooperative, and nurturing atmosphere, and a positive approach is used at all times so that discipline comes from within the student. The school offers a Primary program, a Pre-Kindergarten program, a Private School program for multiple grade levels, as well as tutoring, after-school programs, and summer camps.

Livingston Montessori School states that it considers the individual as a whole, noting that physical, emotional, social, aesthetic, spiritual, and cognitive needs and interests are inseparable and equally important. The school’s mission statement says that children need to be in a school environment where self-esteem is protected and encouraged and where the adventures of life are approached with joy, and where learning is always natural, developmentally appropriate, and fun. The program describes cultivating love, respect, appreciation, and caring attitudes for oneself, others, the environment, and all life as a fundamental part of the child’s development process.
