The Science Spectrum is a nonprofit museum and theater dedicated to the pursuit of exploration and science education. The Science Spectrum was first suggested as an idea in 1984, was incorporated in 1986, and premiered its first exhibits in February 1988 in the South Plains Mall. It held its Grand Opening as a permanent museum on February 11, 1989, at its first home on 50th and Slide, then expanded and moved to its current South Loop location between Indiana and University in October 1993. In the past 35 years, the Science Spectrum has presented over 50 traveling exhibits and has been a resource of science education to hundreds of thousands of people in Lubbock and the surrounding areas, and the museum acknowledges and thanks the community for its strong support.
