Hensel Christian Youth Camp

Hensel Christian Youth Camp offers activities such as volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer, and swimming. Swimming takes place in a small lake on Cow Creek that has a large deck and rope swings over the water. The camp has eight dormitories and a dining hall that can also be used as an auditorium or indoor play area during bad weather.

The dining hall at Hensel Christian Youth Camp is fully equipped with commercial restaurant equipment and includes a fireplace at the end opposite the food serving line. A covered patio on one side has picnic table seating for about 100 campers, and another patio overlooks a large, well-furnished playground. Hensel Christian Youth Camp is open year-round, and reservations are required. The camp is managed by Dean Tomberlin. Hensel Christian Youth Camp is available for youth, men’s, women’s, and church staff retreats, as well as family reunions, weekend retreats, and weddings. In 1965, Mrs. Minna Hensel set aside 337 acres of the Hensel Ranch for the development of this encampment facility, following the Hensel family’s history on the land that began in 1868 with Herman Hensel. The mission of Hensel Christian Youth Camp states that it is directed by Christians and is a place where young and old can enjoy recreation and fellowship in the hill country setting.
