About

Summer Camp at Camp Bette Perot includes summer camp experiences such as daily barn time, a ropes course, swimming, campfires, archery, crafts, slingshots, badgework, leatherworking, and wilderness exploration. Campers also take part in team-building, personal exploration, assisting with a camp activity, daily mentoring with younger groups, horsemanship, attending practices, caring for the camp, and selling cookies. Girls earn badges and learn under the guidance of current and former Tejas Riders, and high school Girl Scouts can join Counselor-in-Training (CIT) and Wrangler-in-Training (WIT) leadership experiences where leadership activities fit around the regular camper experience, including going to the barn each day and choosing their own adventure.

Summer camp experiences at Camp Bette Perot are open to rising Brownies through Ambassadors entering grades 2–12, and camp activities progress by age with new opportunities as girls grow through the program. Fifth graders stay in platform tents at Raccoon Ridge, described as the original Girl Scout camp experience, and older girls in 5th grade and up choose their own activities and customize their week. Girls earn badges and learn under the guidance of current and former Tejas Riders, and Tejas Riders is described as a premier leadership equestrian program dedicated to building strong leadership skills at Camp Bette Perot. CIT camps are described as a fully integrated camper-leadership experience for Girl Scouts entering grades 9–12. The program attempts to honor one mutual buddy request between campers of the same grade level. Transportation to and from camp is not offered, and campers are dropped off and picked up by parents or guardians. Financial assistance may be requested for any registered Girl Scout living in the 32 counties served by Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, and families can request assistance for all or part of the session fee. Parents and caregivers are directed to resources such as a packing list, “Get Ready for Camp” videos, forms, and the Parent & Caregiver Guide to Camp Bette Perot (coming in early 2026), including required forms like the Camper Release Pick-Up Form, Camper Immunization Form, and Camper Immunization Exemption Form.

Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas states that Girl Scouts create the world they want to live in and strive to make it better every single day, explore their strengths, take on new challenges, and can always be themselves regardless of background or ability. The program is supported by adult volunteers and mentors in the community, as well as millions of alums around the globe.
