YMCA Swim Lessons – City of Nederland Swimming Pool offers swim lessons along with open swim times and private rentals. The program includes preschool swim lessons for ages 3–5 years and school-age swim lessons for ages 5–12 years. Private rentals are available in addition to the scheduled swim lessons and open swim hours.
• Ages: 3–12 years old
• Schedule: Open swim begins May 21, with open swim on Tuesday–Friday from 12:00–6:00pm and Saturday from 11:00am–6:00pm; preschool (3–5 years) lessons run Tuesday–Friday 10:15–10:40am and Saturday 9:15–9:40am; school-age (5–12 years) lessons run Tuesday–Friday 10:45–11:25am and Saturday 9:45–10:25am; Tuesday–Friday lesson sessions are May 27–June 6, June 10–June 20, June 24–July 3, July 8–July 18, and July 22–August 1; Saturday lesson sessions are May 31–July 12 (skipping July 5) and July 19–August 23

The Y states that swim lessons are available for everyone from 6 months to seniors in its general swim lesson information. In the general YMCA swim lessons description, students learn personal water safety and basic swimming competency through two benchmark skills that include “swim, float, swim” sequencing with front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide, and “jump, push, turn, grab.” The general YMCA swim lessons information also states that each child is guaranteed 6 out of 8 swimming lessons.
