YMCA Swim Lessons – City of Nederland Swimming Pool offers swim lessons along with open swim times and private rentals. The program includes preschool swim lessons for ages 3–5 years and school-age swim lessons for ages 5–12 years. Private rentals are available and can be booked at the Nederland Rec. Center between 10am and 5pm.
• Ages: 3–12 years old
• Schedule: Open swim is available Tuesday–Friday from 12:00–6:00pm and Saturday from 11:00am–6:00pm, with private rentals on Sunday and the pool closed on Monday; preschool and school-age lessons run in multiple Tuesday–Friday and Saturday sessions from late May through late August.
• Price: Preschool and school-age lessons cost $72 per session for YMCA members and $96 per session for non-members.

The Y states that it focuses on connecting people to their potential, purpose, and each other, with an emphasis on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in communities. The Y reports that it works in 10,000 communities nationwide by bringing together people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and generations. The program notes that swim lessons are available for everyone from 6 months through seniors, that students learn personal water safety and basic swimming competency through specific benchmark skills such as “swim, float, swim” sequencing, and that each child is guaranteed 6 out of 8 swimming lessons.
