The Well’s mission is to enrich the culture of Pampa and the surrounding communities by supporting students in their pursuit of academic, extracurricular and career goals, regardless of their chosen school setting. The Well’s founder, Paul Rayburn, began tutoring students in October 2016, opened the first location in Las Pampas square in February 2016, and incorporated The Well as a 501c3 in March 2016. The Well reports that it is growing fast and has ongoing needs for scholarship funds, new equipment, physical space additions and improvements, and discretionary funds to keep tuition rates low.

The Well has supporting partners including B&L PipeCo, LBK Roofing, Industrial Oils, Intersect Power, The Pampa United Way, Xcel Energy, ProMan, and Larry Baker. Dozens of individuals donated over $60,000 in the last 12 months toward scholarships, operating costs and increasing capacity. B&L PipeCo matches up to $20,000 in scholarship donations annually. LBK Roofing serviced the roof free-of-charge for years before replacing it completely, free-of-charge. Industrial Oils has donated $15,000 toward building improvements. Intersect Power has donated almost $29,000 toward equipment and scholarships for summer programs. The Pampa United Way has donated $10,000 to The Well for discretionary use. Xcel Energy has donated more than $40,000 for equipment and supplies for summer programs over the last 8 summers. ProMan donates $2,000 annually toward scholarships and equipment for summer programs. Larry Baker has donated labor and materials for multiple projects at the new location, including the installation of AC units and the plumbing for the culinary class kitchen.
