MASTERS TaeKwonDo Academy was established in 1987 and has been teaching children with its “Master your Mind system”™ for over 30 years. The “Master your Mind system”™ is available only through the MASTERS TaeKwonDo martial arts programs in Pasadena and Pearland and centers around a unique method of positive teaching. MASTERS is the only place that utilizes the “Master your Mind system”™ and all of the MASTERS instructor staff are trained and certified in the MASTERS system developed by Master Weissfisch.

The program offers a one week Starter Program special for $10, and this starter program includes a free uniform upon enrollment. Families can train together in classes where moms, dads, and kids are in the same class, with adults on one side of the mat and kids on the other. The academy describes itself as a family oriented activity with the phrase “A family that Kicks together Sticks together,” and students have rated MASTERS as 5 stars.

Master George Weissfisch is the creator of MASTERS TaeKwonDo Academy and the “Master your Mind system”™ and serves as Director. The leadership team also includes Master Barbara Kunkel, who was on the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team, and Master Peter Bardatsos, who was a 6-time U.S. National Team member. Master Weissfisch is described as one of the most decorated heavyweight fighters in U.S. Taekwondo history, a 5-time U.S. National Team heavyweight, 2000 Pan Am Championships gold medalist, 1997 Maccabiah World Championships gold medalist, 1997 U.S. Open gold medalist, 1994 World Cup bronze medalist, 3-time National Championships gold medalist, 4-time National Collegiate Champion, 6-time Texas State Champion, captain of the U.S. Collegiate Team and the 2000 U.S. National Tae Kwon Do Team, and an attorney. He was selected as part of the coaching staff for the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and served as a U.S. Olympic Team Coach in 2012 and 2016.

The academy states its mission as “Helping you become the best Possible version of yourself” and says it believes that every child deserves to have a good experience at school and develop the skills to be successful later in life. It also states that Master George Weissfisch is committed to influencing the community as well as the nation.

Parent and student comments include reports of improved behavior, discipline, respect, and self-esteem for children after joining MASTERS TaeKwonDo Academy. One parent who is a child psychologist states being very impressed with the entire MASTERS program and notes that much of the information taught is similar to what this parent shares with families in their own work. Other testimonials describe children becoming less shy, more confident, and more focused, and several parents say they highly recommend the academy. Former teammates and fellow national-level athletes describe Master Weissfisch as a consummate professional, a wonderful person, and one of the greatest martial artists of his time, and they recommend the school to families who are near it.
