About
GEM Academy & Center Youth Programs offers individualized programming that includes academic and college counseling services, SAT prep with specific strategies and tutors, and an after school program. The program also includes a Civic Youth Leadership Program, initial and progress-tracking assessments, confidence and critical thinking strategies, guidance on high school and college planning, and a two-day intensive workshop series focused on using AI for competitive advantage. GEM Academy provides programs for elementary, middle, and high school students, and GEM Center events are available for a wider age range.

GEM Academy and Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a stated mission of transforming the lives of students, youth, and the broader community through guidance, education, and mentorship, and of raising the next generation of youth to unlock their potential and find their purpose and a sense of belonging through guidance, education, and mentorship. The organization describes a focus on nurturing confidence, cultivating excellence, and instilling character in kids to be leaders serving humanity.
The leadership team includes Director of Academics Ali Erenkol, Chief Operating Officer Asma Fahim, Director of Educational Programming Dr. Amber Malik Sheikh, and Administrator and Volunteer Coordinator Fatima Unnisa Begum. Staff credentials include national accreditation by Cognia for GEM, and qualifications such as Harvard training in college counseling, multiple master’s degrees in education-related fields, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a Doctor of Education and Organizational Leadership, and degrees in information science, hospitality and asset management, accounting, marketing, and education. AI coaches include an emerging clinical researcher in generative AI and marketing dynamics with over ten years of growth hacking experience and an industry leader in integration, automation, and conversational AI who is a doctoral student in information science.
GEM Academy and Center describes community involvement through transformative programs, seminars, and events for college students, professionals and entrepreneurs, moms, dads, and seniors that are focused on building capacity within the community. The organization also highlights community collaborations, educational programs, and opportunities to volunteer as a mentor or teacher.
