Camp Akiva offers activities such as a waterfront area, Challenge Course, Blacklight Dodgeball, paintball, archery, Bazooka Ball, and Crate Stacking. The program also operates with core facility staff in food service, maintenance, and housekeeping.

Camp Akiva is a faith-based retreat center owned by Our Father’s Children, and groups renting the facility provide their own leadership, nursing, worship, and program components. The camp’s mission is to provide hope to children of abuse and neglect in Texas, ages 6–18, in week-long camp settings and weekend retreats, with a vision centered on the hope and healing found in Jesus Christ in a safe, nurturing, and loving environment. The meaning of the name Akiva (Uh-kee-vah) that inspired the camp is “protect or shelter,” and the camp states that it aims to provide a royal, loving experience for children who have endured abuse and neglect, as well as Christ-centered hospitality to all age groups.
Akiva was previously known as CCLW (Christian Camp of the Living Word), which was established in 1970, and its first summer camp was held in August 1973. Wes Moseley was hired as camp manager in October 1998, and the property was officially purchased by Our Father’s Children and renamed Camp Akiva in October 2012. The camp was closed for capital improvements during 2013–2014, and OFC held its first summer camps at Camp Akiva in June 2015, which was the first summer operating under the Akiva name. Over time, Camp Akiva has added a paddle hut and dock at the lake, constructed Elm Lodge and upgraded twin mattresses to Akiva Suites, built a new gym, resurfaced the pool deck, extended the nurse’s station, completed Cottonwood Exchange, and relocated the woodworking station.
Camp Akiva is licensed and regulated by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The leadership team includes Wes Moseley as Camp Director, Lisa Moseley as Hospitality Director, Jacob Roper as Logistics Director, Josh Mansfield as Facilities Director, and Anthony Caddell-Adams as Kitchen Manager. Camp Akiva has also been involved in community support by housing Hurricane Katrina evacuees, with 185 people arriving on the property and being re-homed over a span of two weeks.
