About
Alamo Fencing Academy offers fencing through regular classes, fencing summer camps, private lessons, and a homeschool fencing class. Summer camps are 3-day fencing camps that include full-day schedules. Classes are not divided by age or level, and beginners and advanced fencers work together in the same classes.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer camps run June 5–7, June 12–14, June 19–21, August 7–9, and August 14–16 from 9:00am–4:00pm; regular classes meet Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, Wednesday mornings, and Saturday late morning to early afternoon, with a new homeschool class on Wednesdays 9:30–11:30am
• Price: Fencing summer camps cost $300 for members and $350 for non-members
For summer camps, participants are asked to bring snacks, water, and a lunch, and to wear athletic clothes and shoes. Alamo Fencing Academy describes itself as a family oriented fencing school, fencing gym, fencing club, and fencing center, and notes that many students practice 4–5 times per week for 3–4 hours per day. The academy was founded in 2004 by Coach Andrei Samorodov and is led by Coach Andrei Samorodov, Coach Andrei, and Coach Oksana. The program states that its mission is to make people fall in love with the sport of fencing, to provide World-Class training for all, and to focus on the well being of all of its fencers, from youngest to oldest members and from recreational to international competitors. The academy reports that over 100 fencers from the program have achieved national and international podium finishes and describes AFA as not just a sports club but a way of life. The first class at Alamo Fencing Academy is free for new participants.
