Children can also take part in arts and crafts, fitness activities, group classes, and spend time in ChildWatch and Kids Club. The program is recognized as a destination for summer day camp, swimming, and fitness activities, and it uses up-to-date, modern, and well-maintained equipment in a facility with a tidy locker room and an incredible splash pad.

For 150 years, the YMCA of Greater San Antonio has been listening and responding to the community’s most critical social needs. Its mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The YMCA of Greater San Antonio has fostered close collaborations with residents to tackle vital community needs, supports young people, newcomers, and diverse communities, and reinvests in the community, including offering opportunities to get involved through volunteering at the YMCA. The organization was selected as an Impact San Antonio 2023 Grant Award Finalist in the Health and Wellness category.
Parents and members describe the staff as friendly and helpful, and note that kids enjoy Kids Club, arts and crafts, and playing with friends. One parent reports that their child enjoys being on a youth sports team with coaches who engage with the kids and that they look forward to each new season. Another parent shares that, after six months in aquatics programming, their child progressed from barely being able to swim to making a competitive swim team, and that instructors and coaches had a positive impact on the child’s development as a swimmer and as a young child. Families also highlight the clean facility, the enormous and well-kept pool, the modern equipment, the tidy locker rooms, and the splash pad.
