Lubbock Baseball Academy offers baseball training that includes infield work, fundamental drills, and agility drills. Players use a Turf Room with 5,000 square feet of top quality turf for infield work and for fundamental and agility drills. Training also takes place in three oversized, professionally installed batting cages and in a weight room that has a complete weight setup and band system.

The leadership team includes Owner and Head Coach Trent Petrie; Pitching Coordinator Brent Leffingwell; and coaches AJ Florence, Darby Brown, Brad Propst, and Jeremy Mayo. Trent Petrie started his college baseball career at Hill College in 1990, transferred to Texas Tech in 1992, and finished playing baseball and graduated at Lubbock Christian University in 1993. His coaching background includes Wayland Baptist University, Hill College, Clarendon College, Oklahoma State University as Director of Baseball Operations, University of New Mexico as Assistant Baseball Coach, and Texas Tech University as Assistant Baseball Coach and Baseball Recruiting Coordinator. Brent Leffingwell has coached college baseball for 12 years, works as a professional baseball scout, and has worked as Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Ranger College, Pitching Coach at Ranger College and Howard Payne University, and has experience as a professional and college pitcher with multiple All-American honors and high school awards. It is Coach Leffingwell’s stated goal to help every player succeed at the game of baseball and to do so with proper mechanics that will ensure safety, longevity, and prevent injury. Coach Darby Brown played high school baseball at Lubbock Cooper, then played two years at Howard Junior College and two years at Texas A&M, where he was part of a Big 12 Tournament Championship in 2007 and a Big 12 Regular Season Championship in 2008, and he served as a graduate assistant at Lubbock Christian University in 2011. His listed accomplishments include multiple junior college and Big 12 honors and being drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 2005. Coach Brad Propst played at Frank Phillips Junior College, Oklahoma State University, and for the Houston Astros, and he is currently coaching at Lubbock High School. Coach Jeremy Mayo is from Lubbock, attended Monterey High School, was an All-State catcher in 2006, caught for Texas Tech with an All Big XII selection in 2009, was drafted by the Washington Nationals in 2010, and played as high as AAA as well as independent ball for the Lincoln Saltdogs, Rockford Aviators, and St. Paul Saints in 2013. Kelby Tomlinson, associated with the program, was awarded the American Baseball Coaches Association Rawlings Division I Gold Glove Award.
