Boni's Dance & Performing Arts Studio

Boni's Dance & Performing Arts Studio offers Boni's Babies, a 30-minute mommy & me class for 14-24 month olds that uses music and motor exploration activities with parachutes, ping pong balls, bean bags, scarves, ribbons, and an obstacle course. It also offers Tots & Tutu's for 2 year olds, Pre-Ballet for 3 year olds, and split classes for 4, 5, and 6 year olds in Ballet & Tap, Ballet & Jazz, and Tap & Jazz. The studio also offers Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Leaps & Turns, Musical Theater, Drill Team Prep, and Cheer Dance Prep.

• Boni's Babies — 14-24 month olds · 30-minute mommy & me class focused on music and motor exploration activities using parachute, ping pong balls, bean bags, scarves, ribbons, and obstacle course.
• Tots & Tutu's — 2 year olds
• Pre-Ballet — 3 years olds · 45-minute class building on Tots & Tutus skills, adding skipping, releve, passe, chasse, and more feet and arm positions.
• Split Classes (Ballet & Tap / Ballet & Jazz / Tap & Jazz) — 4 years olds (Ballet & Tap); 5 & 6 year olds (Ballet & Tap, Ballet & Jazz and Tap & Jazz) · 60-minute class with half an hour of each style of dance.
• Ballet
• Jazz — Combines ballet and modern dance techniques; includes styles such as Broadway, Contemporary, Lyrical, Percussive, and Street Jazz.
• Tap — Tap dance class emphasizing rhythm and movement, with beginner skills including toe taps, heel digs, shuffles, and ball changes.
• Hip Hop — Upbeat, high-energy class incorporating stretching, isolations, rhythms, musicality, body strength, funky footwork, combinations, personal style, and expression.
• Lyrical and Leaps & Turns — Contemporary form of ballet and jazz set to today’s music; dances interpret song words through body and face. Lyrical prerequisite is 1 year of ballet.
• Musical Theater — Jazz and acting combination focused on portraying a character and bringing out the inner actor/actress. Prerequisite is 1 year of Jazz class.
• Drill Team Prep — Designed to build technique, precision, and performance quality for drill team auditions and routines; focuses on kick technique, turns, jumps, flexibility, strength, and sharp synchronized movements.
• Cheer Dance Prep — Designed to build skills for cheer tryouts and performances; focuses on motions, jumps, kicks, turns, flexibility, timing, strength, coordination, performance quality, and cheer-style choreography.

About the provider

Bonnie Schuetz is the Owner and Artistic Director. She started teaching in her garage in The Woodlands in 1983, opened the first location in 1984, and opened a state of the art studio on Research Forest in 1999. The mission is to develop each student to the fullest potential by nurturing them in a positive and loving atmosphere. The Woodlands Dance Company performs the annual Nutcracker to raise funds for local charities.

Adult classes offered: Ballet, Tap, Clogging, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Liturgical Worship Dance. Off-site classes are held at Interfaith, Children of The Woodlands, Living Word, and Brighton Academy. General dress code: girls preferred to wear a leotard except for hip hop; long hair should be in a bun or tight ponytail; no jewelry other than small earrings; ankle length and capri leggings can be worn for certain classes; no booty shorts.
