About
Challenge/Challenge United Soccer Club Youth Programs offers recreational soccer, Youth Academy soccer, and Select soccer. The Burroughs Park Recreational soccer program includes practices and games during a 10-week season, and the Youth Academy and Select programs offer additional training and competition formats. Teams are formed by selecting players with similar athletic abilities across these programs.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Burroughs Park Recreational soccer includes one practice per week and weekly games during a 10-week season; the U8–U10 Youth Academy Program includes two practices per week and Sunday games with an 8–10 game season.
Challenge/Challenge United Soccer Club states that its mission is to focus on the growth and development of players and teams by doing what is in the best interest of the individual player first. The Burroughs Park Recreational soccer program for kids ages 4–7 uses an age-appropriate curriculum focused on building teamwork, making friends, and learning basic techniques. Athletes in the 7 to 10 age group focus on developing fundamental soccer skills and techniques to build their self-confidence, teamwork, and comfort level with the game. The focus of the Recreational program is for players to have fun in an age-appropriate way, and participation in Burroughs Park Recreational soccer includes a uniform. In both the Recreational and Youth Academy programs, development of teamwork, tactical knowledge, and technical skills are priorities, and respect, good sportsmanship, and being gracious in both victory and defeat is taught and expected from all players. Every player in the Youth Academy program will get play time in at least 50% of each game. The Select program is for middle and high school students who want to pursue a collegiate career and uses a sophisticated curriculum, world-class coaches, and extensive training to prepare players for future collegiate and professional opportunities, and tryouts are required for this program. The club serves families in Spring, Klein, Tomball, Magnolia, and The Woodlands, and the leadership team includes Ashley Fendley.
