About

RH Equestrian offers horse sales, horse training, and riding lessons, including English and Western riding and general horsemanship lessons. The program includes lesson horse leasing, retraining retired thoroughbred racehorses, and instruction in show jumping, dressage, equitation, hunters, jumpers, and grooming your horse. Lessons take place at a riding center with lesson horses and ponies available, and lesson horses are available to lease monthly.

RH Equestrian was created in 2016 by Rebecca Hanna Dykes, with Christopher Hanna as co-creator. The owner and head trainer, Rebecca H. Dykes, teaches beginner through advanced riding lessons and trains, competes, and coaches students in hunters, jumpers, western disciplines, equitation, and dressage. Training programs are custom tailored to the individual horse and rider, with lessons available on a rider’s own horse or on one of several gentle lesson horses and ponies. The program offers English and Western styles of riding for all skill levels, with a lesson program based on mastering the fundamentals of correct and safe riding and an emphasis on learning to care for the horse on the ground and all aspects of horsemanship. RH Equestrian specializes in retraining retired thoroughbred racehorses into overall riding horses with a focus on hunter/jumper disciplines and also works with general riding horses and ponies that have been trained with intention and care. The environment is described as supportive and laid-back, and the program states that everyone is welcome, whether a rider wants to pursue high level competition or simply enjoy grooming a horse.

Trainer Rebecca is proficient in training from the ground up in both English and Western disciplines and has brought many horses from very green to winning at competitions. She has brought numerous inexperienced horses to showing successfully through methodical and thoughtful training, focusing on the strengths of each individual horse. She has received many champion-level awards in show jumping, dressage, equitation, and hunters. Rebecca has taught beginner-advanced riding lessons for over 10 years and emphasizes patience, dedication, consistency, and understanding of the particular horse and rider connection during training sessions. She has participated in several intensive riding clinics conducted by Olympic riders, Olympic team coaches, and high-level instructors such as George Morris, Bernie Traurig, and Anne Kursinski. She received her BBA in Marketing and BA in Psychology from Southern Methodist University.

RH Equestrian states its mission as: “TO provide an inspiring, relaxed environment where you can explore your passion for the horse and riding.” The program offers a wide range of horses and ponies for every level of rider looking to find a suitable match. Testimonials describe Rebecca as patient, personable, and friendly, and mention that she makes riders feel at home even with no prior horse experience. Families note that the horses have spunky personalities and that children have enjoyed riding, leading, and brushing the horses, with some parents stating they would consider additional lessons even when living an hour away.
