The YMCA of Central Texas states that summer camps provide fun and educational experiences for children and teenagers in a safe and inclusive environment, and that dedicated staff ensures safety and supervision. The camp programs are built around the Camp ABC’s of Accomplishment, Belonging, and Character, with core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility as the foundation of summer camp programs. Staff model these core values throughout the day and praise these values when they see them. Campers are asked to bring a nut-free lunch and a water bottle, and a snack is provided.

The YMCA of Central Texas conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests, and offers financial assistance to individuals and families who cannot afford membership. The YMCA of Central Texas’s Licensed Child Care Department is the largest provider of child care in Williamson County, and the Y is described as the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Partnerships with school districts, community businesses, and well trained staff support these programs, and the Licensed Child Care Department is identified as the largest provider of child care in Williamson County.

The YMCA of Central Texas began in the 1970s, with a United Way “Youth Contingency Fund” created in 1976, and expanded facilities and programs through the 1980s and 1990s, including assuming management of the 50-acre Twin Lakes Park and expanding programs to Taylor in 1998. The organization states that for nearly 160 years, the Y has been listening and responding to communities, and that it serves 10,000 communities across the U.S. and more than 45 million people in 124 countries worldwide. The mission of the YMCA of Central Texas is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Leadership for youth and camp programs includes roles such as Vice President of Youth Development, District Executive Directors, Associate Executive Directors, a Youth Development Senior Business Manager, and child development center directors and interim directors.
