About
YMCA Youth Programs and Camps includes Youth Sports, Adventure Guides, After School, Resident and Day Camps, a Safety Around Water Program, a Summer Learning Academy, and Sports. The program also connects to health-focused offerings such as the Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program and Brain Health Open Houses, and includes summer camp options.
The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas has been serving the community for over 135 years and offers over 250 programs across its association. It operates 16 state-of-the-art YMCA locations and offers over 20 Day Camps, with more than 2,900 children attending camp in Summer 2024. Over 7,000 individuals learned life-saving water skills through the Safety Around Water Program in Summer 2024, and the Summer Learning Academy took place in 3 school districts that same summer. Thousands of children received backpacks, supplies, haircuts, exams, and more at YMCA back-to-school fairs. The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is a nonprofit organization serving almost 200,000 people annually throughout Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Palo Pinto, and Rockwall counties and is dedicated to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Elise Back serves as Chief Growth Officer for the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.
In partnership with the City of Waxahachie and Ellis County, Texas, the YMCA broke ground on the Cindy Hess Memorial Park, which will feature a pavilion, walking trail, sports fields, outdoor fitness areas, and more. YMCA Camp Grady Spruce unveiled eight brand-new cabins and a renovated Dining Hall on the Ray Bean side of camp, and a new Welcome Center is planned, with cabin capacity expanded from 144 to 256 beds.
Testimonials from participants include a parent who shared that a scholarship allowed her son to play baseball during a transition to one income, and a Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program participant who reported that staff support led to a change in blood pressure medication after discovering her blood pressure was in the danger zone.
