About
Camp Sweeney is a program that focuses on children with Type 1 diabetes. At Camp Sweeney, Type 1 diabetes is treated as normal so that every camper can show what makes them special, not what makes them different. The program uses Sweeney 365, a mobile platform that lets campers and parents stay connected to Camp Sweeney all year long, including during the summer when parents can access action packed photos, CS News posts, and high definition live streamed videos.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
Camp Sweeney has been supporting children with diabetes for over 75 years. Its mission states that a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes changes the life of a child, and that days filled with school, sports, and activities are often replaced by blood tests, insulin injections, and carbohydrate calculations. Camp Sweeney is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and donations are tax deductible in the U.S.
