About
Lifehouse Performing Arts Academy – Salem Company Dance Program includes training in ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary, along with movement, pointe, stretch classes, and rehearsals. Company students train in ballet, jazz, and tap, and some companies also train in contemporary, movement, and pointe. Students participate in 3–5 shows per season, and investment includes all rehearsals and performances.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Studio hours Monday–Friday 9am–9pm; company students dance 2.5–14 hours per week depending on age and ability; the program includes a minimum of 36 weeks of classes
• Price: ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE $20.00 per student (maximum $50 per family). COSTUME FEE: 2–5 costumes per student depending on level and number of performances; purchase price $65–$150 per costume; costume rental $35–$40; non-refundable costume deposit $35–$150, due upon enrollment for open classes and October 1 for company and musical theater students, credited toward costume fees; final costume payments due April 1; RECITAL FEE: $30 per family per performance.
Company students, ages 6–18, are described as passionate and having a desire to reach their potential as a dancer. Company requires more time and commitment, and the studio states that it believes in balance and family time, making use of the student’s time and requiring the minimum amount of time it takes to reach excellence in dance. Company students sign a contract committing to participate in all of their designated classes for the entire season.
Lifehouse Ballet Production “The Nutcracker” is for company students and is optional for open students, with six to eight required weekend rehearsals for those who opt in and an extra fee required. Lifehouse Fireside “Living from the Inside Out” and the Lifehouse Company Showcase are for company students. Lifehouse Spectacular Production “It All Started with a Mouse” is for preschool, kindergarten, combo, musical theater, and hip-hop students, and company students may opt in to participate.
For ballet class, students wear a mostly solid color leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes. For jazz and tap classes, students wear form-fitting athletic pants or shorts with a leotard or form-fitting top, and tap classes also require tap shoes and socks if needed. The studio has a store where dance supplies are available for purchase.
According to its mission statement, Lifehouse Performing Arts Academy provides solid technical dance instruction in the performing arts in an environment that teaches the love of others, the gift of the human body, the beauty of the human spirit, the value of hard work, and a desire to use talents to bless the lives of others.
