Parker Theatre School

Parker Theatre School offers Beginning Theatre for ages 3-8, Acting for ages 6-16, Musical Theatre for ages 6-16, Improv for ages 8+, Improv - Advanced for ages 8+, Sketch Comedy for ages 8+, and Home School Acting Class for ages 4-17. Classes include acting and singing techniques, creativity, improv, imagination, storytelling, projection and diction, character movement, voice acting, ensemble work, body awareness, motion, beats, simple motions to songs, and sketch comedy skits and bits.

Programs

• Beginning Theatre — Ages 3-8 · Explore acting and singing techniques through creativity, improv, and imagination. Students learn to speak clearly, create characters, and become comfortable working with and in front of others.
• Acting — Ages 6-16 · A class for school-aged students. Participants learn storytelling, projection and diction, character movement, voice acting, and how to create a strong ensemble.
• Musical Theatre — Ages 6-16 · Develop the building blocks of musical theatre, master body awareness and motion, and learn how to understand beats and add simple motions to songs.
• Improv — Ages 8+ · Develop the fundamentals of improvisation with games, drills, and simple scenes.
• Improv - Advanced — Ages 8+ · Advanced improv class. Students must have previously taken Improv.
• Sketch Comedy — Ages 8+ · Focus on improvisation and humor in a fast-action class. Students learn to create, practice, and perform sketch comedy skits and bits in class.
• Home School Acting Class — Ages 4-17 · Fridays throughout the school year, 9:30-11:30 · Theatre classes designed especially for homeschooled students. A cooperative mixed-acting class where students learn to work with other students of varying ages.

• General schedule: Afterschool camps are one week long. Each day is filled with activities, games, and exercises. Summer camps are one week and each day is filled with activities, games and exercises.

About the provider

Parker Theatre School has been an integral part of Parker Theatre since 1988. Parker Theatre was founded in 1985 by Thomas W. Parker and Joanne M. Parker, and the theatre was first founded in 1984. The mission statement says the program is dedicated to entertaining, educating, supporting, and uplifting performers and creators of tomorrow, and to the community, children, and the arts.

Many students take more than one class and receive a discount for two or more classes. Minimum class size is five. Parker Theatre reserves the right to split, cancel or combine classes based on enrollment. School closed Fall Break, Thanksgiving Week, Winter Break, and Spring Break.
