The organization was initially founded as Dulles South Youth Sports in 2007 to provide Tackle Football and Cheerleading and later expanded its sport portfolio to include Cross Country, Track & Field, Wrestling, Volleyball, Lacrosse (now separate), and Flag Football. In 2018, the name was changed from Dulles South Youth Sports to Dulles Youth Sports to better represent the area served.

Dulles Youth Sports, Inc. states that its mission is to facilitate competitive athletic programs for Loudoun County – Dulles District area youth in order to teach the game and rules of each sport while building character in a competitive environment, with a focus on sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork. It is a 501c3 non-profit organization and a Loudoun PRCS Affiliate organization. As a Loudoun PRCS Affiliate, it provides athletic opportunities to youth in Loudoun County’s Dulles District area, including but not limited to Aldie, Brambleton, Chantilly-Loudoun, Kirkpatrick Farms, Lenah Run, South Riding, Stone Ridge, and many other neighborhoods, and it serves students from multiple listed elementary, middle, and high schools in that area. The organization structure was set up similarly to surrounding youth organizations like SYA and CYA so that additional sports could be started and operated under a single organization, and it notes that it will continue to facilitate new youth sport opportunities such as Golf and Travel Volleyball.
