Private Individual and Small Group Training uses custom drills for defenders, midfielders, strikers, and goalkeepers, and birthday parties include coaches bringing soccer equipment, games, and a scrimmage that ends with a prize for the birthday child.
• Ages: 3–12 years old
• Schedule: Summer camps run Monday–Friday from 9am–12 noon
• Price: 1on1 Sessions are $90 for a 1-hour class; birthday parties are $200 for a 1-hour party for up to 15 friends
Love the Ball Soccer programs were established in 2015. The mission is to empower children through sports by fostering skill development, teamwork, confidence, and a love for movement and healthy play. The programs include developmental youth classes that focus on coordination, balance, and gross motor skills with a soccer ball, with a large emphasis on social interaction, team play, and character development. The Mini Kickers program for preschool-aged children uses fantasy themes such as pirates, spaceships, and superheroes and introduces dribbling, shooting, changing direction, and gross motor skills like basic coordination, balance, and speed, with a curriculum based on the child’s mental, physical, and social development.
The Academy class for ages 6–10 gives every player a ball and uses games and drills based around players’ footwork, enjoyment of the game, and teamwork. After School Programs aim for the class to be the highlight of every child’s day, and Love the Ball will provide a free sample session for after school programs. The organization describes its programs as combining expert coaching, fun learning, and a supportive environment, with a focus on strong fundamentals, character, teamwork, and a genuine love for sports, led by experienced coaches dedicated to teaching skills, teamwork, and confidence.
Oliver Freeman, also known as Coach Oli, leads the program and is a London-born coach trained at Fulham FC Academy, with experience coaching for Chelsea FC in the UK across community sessions, holiday camps, and advanced invite-only centers for top regional talent. Love the Ball is a year-round soccer training company serving Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC, and is an approved vendor with Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax County, as well as various Departments of Parks and Recreation. The program currently serves more than 30 schools across Virginia, DC, and Maryland and has brought soccer to over 1,000 kids, including through partners such as Enrichment Matters and Falls Church Parks & Recreation.
