BRMC Education Programs are part of Bull Run Mountains Conservancy, which was founded in 1994. BRMC is an independent nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. The mission is to provide programs and information to the general public that encourage the appreciation, preservation, and sustainability of the natural, cultural, and historical features of the Bull Run Mountain Region. BRMC protects the Bull Run Mountains Region through education, stewardship, and research, and its educational programs focus on the ecological, historical, and cultural features of the region. BRMC's education programs bring participants into nature and have a high leader-to-participant ratio. In 2025, BRMC served nearly 3,000 children and adults, providing over 10,000 impact hours through public education programs. Everything BRMC does is founded in scientific research, and for over 30 years it has sponsored, assisted, and facilitated numerous baseline studies that contribute to the collective understanding of the natural landscape. BRMC also offers ways for families to get involved in community work such as removing invasive species at Leopold's Preserve, working with kids at outdoor events, and gardening at the mountain house.
