Gym America - Gymnastics & Dance Center offers recreational and competitive gymnastics instruction, preschool gymnastics, High School and Adult Gymnastics, cheerleading and introduction to cheerleading, hip-hop and other dance classes, tumbling, Ninja Fit Classes, creative movement classes, and sports skills. The program also offers ninja fit activities in a dedicated ninja area, open gyms, clinics, School’s Out Camps, an after school program with homework assistance, art activities, and STEM activities, as well as birthday parties and creative movement birthday parties. Camps include gymnastics, dance, cheer, American Ninja Warrior themed camp, American Ninja Warrior camp, and Tumbling and Tramp Camp, and the center offers specialized classes for students with various levels of learning difficulties.

• Schedule: Registration for the 2025–2026 school year session begins 6/3/24, the 2025–2026 school year session runs from 9/2/2025–6/20/2026, the after school program runs until 6:30PM with 3, 4, or 5 day a week schedules during the 2025–2026 school year, and on Thursdays middle school students are picked up for a gymnastics class from 2:45–4:10.
• Price: Trial classes are available for $15, and families in the Virginia Run Elementary bussing district save $45 per month.
Gym America - Gymnastics & Dance Center has rolling enrollment, and tuition is pro-rated for those beginning in the middle of a pay period. Classes are divided into levels based on ability, and each gymnastics class includes stretching and strength along with instruction on vault, uneven bars, beam, floor, and trampoline. Classes are co-ed through the white level and include instruction on rings, pommel horse, and parallel bars, with a stated focus on learning technically-sound gymnastics skills in a safe and fun environment and on building self-esteem, goal setting, trying new things, overcoming fears, and working hard. The facility includes a dedicated ninja area with new obstacles and equipment for children and families, an above ground Air Pit, public wifi for parents, and an expanded and dedicated dance room with a hardwood sprung floor.
The after school program has a maximum of 24 students during the 2025–2026 school year and includes a gymnastics class, homework assistance, art activities, STEM activities, and ninja fit activities. Summer camps include full day and half day gymnastics camps for ages 6 and up and half day camps for ages 3 to 6, along with very popular American Ninja Warrior and Tumbling and Tramp Camp options. Birthday parties include one supervised hour in the gym with activities of the family’s choice and 30 minutes in the party area for refreshments, food, and presents, and the program also offers open gym times.
Gym America’s mission is to maximize the potential of every child who walks through its doors by providing what it describes as a stimulating and innovative learning environment, with learning reaching its greatest potential through various movement activities and a focus on learning fundamental skills in a fun and positive environment. The center was created by founder Laura Carr to recognize children for their uniqueness and strengths and to provide what they personally need to reach their maximum potential, including an environment in which learning is maximized through various movement activities and a variety of sensory input throughout the day.
Founder and Director Laura Carr, M.S., B.C.B.A., L.B.A., has over 25 years of experience teaching and working with children in various capacities. She has 18 years of experience coaching gymnastics through competitive level 6 and 10+ years teaching dance-related classes such as ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. She has 10 years of experience developing behavior plans for children and adults with behavior difficulties, including individuals with Autism, traumatic brain injuries, and a variety of developmental disabilities, 2 years of experience conducting neuropsychological and academic testing, and 3+ years as Director of Behavioral Services at a private day placement school for children with severe behavior difficulties. Laura holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Behavioral Psychology, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Licensed Behavior Analyst through Virginia’s Board of Medicine, has previously held licensure as a Limited License Psychologist in Michigan, and is First Aid and CPR certified, USA Gymnastics Safety Certified, and a USA Gymnastics Professional Member.
During the 2025–2026 school year, Gym America’s after school program offers free pickup from Rachel Carson Middle School and Rocky Run Middle School for certain classes. Elementary schools that will bus to the program include Virginia Run Elementary, and during the 2025–2026 school year Gym America provides pickup for Oak Hill, Nysmith, Crossfield, Dogwood, Fox Mill, and Floris Elementary Schools.
