Skipwith Academy Programs

Skipwith Academy Programs include childcare for infants and toddlers, preschool programs, before-school care, after-school care, enrichment programs, and summer camps. The program offers engaging educational experiences for infants through school age children, with activities that include award-winning books, enticing toys, arts and crafts, and educational activities. Its curriculum is based on a learning plan that uses developmentally appropriate practices in a supportive environment, and the educational program is individualized for each child, with options for learning based on age, prior learning, maturity, and academic stage.

Skipwith Academy has been a leader in early childhood education in the RVA area since 1996 and provides childcare and educational opportunities throughout the Richmond, Virginia area, including Ashland, Colonial Heights, Chester, Mechanicsville, Midlothian, and Richmond. Skipwith Academy is committed to supporting families and children in the communities it serves and comprises an educational network of nine licensed facilities. Skipwith Academy schools are staffed with trained, enthusiastic individuals selected for their educational backgrounds, experiences, and dedication to young children. An Individualized Training Program is created for each teacher and manager with learning goals over the course of the year, and education specialists conduct periodic formal assessments to determine each teacher’s progress in implementing what they have learned. Managers receive systematic classes on educational leadership to support the needs of teachers in their school. The program’s aim is to expose every child to a variety of experiences that will develop them socially, emotionally, and academically, to provide a welcoming environment for learning, exploration, and growth, and to give top priority to the safety and security of each child.
