The Center has been accredited by the American Camp Association since 1995 and was voted best camp in 2022. Virginia Cooperative Extension, which is a partnership of Virginia Tech, Virginia State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and local governments, is involved with the Center, and the Center serves 19 counties and cities. The Center hosts a variety of corporate retreats, festivals, team building programs, outdoor recreation, and a wide variety of local, regional, and national events every year, and it welcomes about 2,000 campers each year.
