Russell County 4-H Youth Development Programs include a week-long event where participants take part in swimming, cooking, riflery, fishing, archery, and crafts. Over 210 campers, 26 teens, and 13 adult volunteers from Russell County participated in this week-long event. For the first time in Russell County 4-H history, the group camped solo for the week at this event.

Russell County youth attend 4-H camp annually. Over 50 youth received scholarship money to attend camp, and an Endowment Fund has been established to provide camping scholarships to Russell County youth annually. Community support for the Russell County 4-H Camping Program includes contributions from local businesses, organizations, and individuals, as well as transportation for all campers and teens provided by Russell County Public Schools-Bus Garage. The leadership team includes Ashley Clark, Associate Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development. Virginia Cooperative Extension is a partnership of Virginia Tech, Virginia State University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and local governments. USDA and USDA-funded programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, marital status, family/parental status, income derived from a public assistance program, political beliefs, or retaliating for prior civil rights activity.
