emPOWER kids offers Out of School Time Day Camps and a Spring Break Camp. All classes include elements of mindfulness, social-emotional development, learning body autonomy and awareness, self-advocacy, keeping a growth mindset, and play. The curriculum focuses on overall physical well-being, mindfulness, and social-emotional connections with peers, and instructors use language that encourages a growth mindset.

• Schedule: Winter Session runs through March 28, with free trials for first-time participants available March 1–28; Spring Session enrollment opens March 1 at noon.

emPOWER kids provides Joyful Movement programs to children and adults in the Northern Virginia/DC area. The program celebrates kids showing empathy, making friends, overcoming fears, sharing how they feel, taking turns, cheering on classmates, and expressing gratitude. Its core values are Community, Individuality & Play, and it states that it strives to emPOWER kids to cultivate strong mental and physical fitness while developing social skills in a safe, welcoming environment.

Founder Jenni Hogan started emPOWER kids in November 2020. The Wellness Studio opened in September 2021, followed by the Joyful Movement Gym in June 2022. The leadership team includes Jenni Hogan (founder), Vanessa Olson (Chief Operating Officer), and Dosy Karim (Administrative Coordinator).

Jenni brings over a decade of experience coaching recreational sports, competitive gymnastics, and Girls on the Run. She attended Marymount University and George Mason University for Elementary Education and is currently pursuing her RYT 200 yoga certification. Vanessa holds her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from George Mason University. Jenni felt the call to give back to the community in a meaningful way after the COVID-19 crisis changed many families’ lives.
