Amazement Square Camps and Programs

Amazement Square Camps and Programs gives kids chances for hands-on play and discovery through interactive exhibits and immersive experiences. Children can paint on the walls, experiment with weather, explore life on the farm, float boats down the James River, and take the stage in a band of their own.

Amazement Square Camps and Programs takes place in a four-floor, award-winning, hands-on children’s museum that includes the Amazement Tower, an indoor multi-story play structure with slides, ladders, tunnels, and a zip-line. The museum is the only museum in Virginia designated as a Certified Autism Center and welcomes more than 75,000 visitors each year from across the country and around the world. Its mission states that Amazement Square cultivates a community of lifelong learners by sparking imagination, creativity, and curiosity as a hands-on, multi-disciplinary museum that believes creative play is one of the most important ways children and families learn and grow. In 2024, more than 8,000 students participated in SOL-based school programs, 2,000 more were reached through Inside Out outreach programs, 700 children with disabilities and their families took part in free sensory-sensitive Everyone is Special experiences, and 3,852 visitors from families participating in SNAP/EBT programs received reduced-rate admission through Exploration for All. The organization notes that it will be celebrating 25 years of hands-on learning and community impact in 2026.
