About
Camp Cheerio offers a wide range of activities, including archery, canoeing, fishing, arts and crafts, basketball, golf, lacrosse, zumba, riflery, and building with LEGOs. Campers can also take part in free swim, climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking, tree climbing, boating, orienteering, and backpacking.

• Schedule: One- and two-week sessions, including one-week sessions
Camp Cheerio runs traditional summer camps, high adventure camps, and year-round retreats for families and groups. It offers a traditional summer camp for boys and girls who are rising 2nd–10th graders and an adventure camp for boys and girls who are rising 4th–10th graders on the New River in Virginia. The program includes over 35 traditional camp activities and over 20 adventure-based outdoor activities, as well as Family Camp weekends, Mother Daughter weekends, Y-Guide programs, week-long Senior Adult Camps, Private Group Weekends, and Alumni Weekends. The original 50 acres for Camp Cheerio were purchased in 1956, and Cheerio officially opened for business in 1960, with infrastructure built using volunteer labor and financial help from local civic clubs including the Y’s Men, Rotary, and Kiwanis Clubs of High Point. Camp Cheerio’s stated mission is to offer a summer resident camp where children can participate in camp activities and build friendships in a positive environment, with a relaxed Christian atmosphere and a focus on Christian spirit since the beginning, welcoming children of all backgrounds.
