Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital Sleep-Away Camps offers sleepaway camp programs for girls in grades K-12. A sample day at camp includes a morning flag ceremony and breakfast, making friendship bracelets, a morning hike, lunch, siesta, pool time, target sports, dinner, campfire, and time to prepare for bed. The program also includes weeklong themed specialty activities and two-night minicamps, with daily schedules that vary by camp and program.

  • Sleep Away Camps — Girls in grades K-12 · During the summer, Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital offers sleepaway and day or evening camp programs for Girl Scouts in grades K-12.
  • Camp Winona — Located in Hughesville, MD, Winona offers a wide variety of programs ranging from weeklong themed specialty activities to two-night minicamps.
  • Camp Potomac Woods — Located in Leesburg, VA, Potomac Woods offers a variety of specialty theme programs that range from two-nights to one week in a fun, safe, and traditional camp setting.

  • Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program — Teens in grade 9 and above · Our leadership programs allow teens in grade 9 and above to mentor younger campers and learn how rewarding it is to be camp staff.
  • Counselor-in-Training (CIT) two-week program — Teens in grade 9 and above · After teens complete the first Counselor-in-Training (CIT) two-week program, they can move on to the more advanced CIT II program and/or enhance their skills in our Junior Counselor (JC) program.
  • Counselor-in-Training (CIT) II program — Teens in grade 9 and above · More advanced CIT II program.
  • Junior Counselor (JC) program — Teens in grade 9 and above · Teens can enhance their skills in our Junior Counselor (JC) program.

About the provider

Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital also offers Counselor-in-Training programs for teens in grade 9 and above. These include a two-week CIT program, a more advanced CIT II program, and a Junior Counselor program. Teens in these programs mentor younger campers and learn how rewarding it is to be camp staff.

The $25 registration deposit is non-refundable. The remainder of the camp fee is refunded only under specified withdrawal or illness/injury conditions. Programs may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or other extenuating circumstances, in which case a full refund is provided if no alternative program is available. Camp scholarships are available, up to 100% in scholarships for all campers.
