Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia has been serving youth across the region for more than 100 years. The organization operates as a comprehensive youth service organization in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Franklin, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, and on the Eastern Shore. Its stated mission is “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” The Atlantic Bay Portsmouth Club is a licensed Club site, and licensed Club sites must have a birth certificate, shot record, and physical for members ages 6–12. The leadership team includes Club Director Maurice Nelson and President & CEO Kevin Will.

According to the organization, its programs and services enhance children's confidence, creativity, purpose, and social skills, and it helps young people in grades K–12 reach their full potential through youth development programs that emphasize career and academic preparedness, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship. Registration remains open until spaces are filled, and waitlists are available. One testimonial from President & CEO Kevin Will describes the Club as a place where members discover their talents, build confidence, and dream bigger, and he states that every child, regardless of background or identity, should have equal access to a safe place to grow, quality mentors, opportunities to explore, and tools to achieve their dreams. Another testimonial from former member Caleb Jones describes how spending hours at the Club kept him on the right path, surrounded him with role models, supported his academics from elementary school through high school, and connected him with football, which led to All-Region, All-Tidewater, and All-State honors, a 3.9 GPA, a scholarship to play at North Carolina A&T, and continuing his football career at Boston College.
