About
Ideaventions Academy Summer Programs offers full-day, 1-week summer camps that include hands-on science and engineering labs, a computer science lab to learn coding, and computational thinking. Campers take part in nature hikes, outdoor play in a fenced play area, math and logic enrichment, literature enrichment, and a book club. Activities also include teamwork and communication skills in Minecraft Education Edition, a computing lab, and during some weeks a virtual reality lab, along with lunch and a 30-minute science or engineering movie such as Bill Nye the Science Guy, Disney Imagineering, or Popular Mechanics for Kids.

During Operation Spy, campers build spy gear, make and break codes, create alarm systems with electronics, and explore electricity, ciphers, and lasers, while also using Code.org computational exercises and collaboratively designing and engineering a hidden spy base in Minecraft Education Edition. In Time Travel: Age of Dinosaurs, campers dig for fossils, learn to think like a paleontologist, learn about dinosaurs and prehistoric life from fossils, and study volcanoes, earthquakes, plant life, the tundra biome, and astronomy. In Mystery Solvers: Chem Lab, campers collect and analyze evidence to solve a mystery, use chemistry to reveal fingerprints, detect blood traces, analyze mysterious substances, and learn about physical and chemical properties of matter, chemical reactions, and analytical chemistry, while collaboratively engineering a detective headquarters and completing challenges in Minecraft Education Edition.
In Physics of the Impossible: Star Wars to Mario, campers examine technologies from popular movies like Star Wars and impossible feats from video games like Mario, and conduct hands-on investigations in chemistry, engineering, and physics inspired by these movies and video games, including observing forces in a crash and acceleration due to gravity, and collaboratively designing and building a futuristic civilization in Minecraft Education Edition. In Martian Colony, campers model nanomaterials, explore the mechanical engineering and biology of hydroponic growing systems, construct lightweight dome structures for living spaces, invent and hack tools for a Martian base, and learn about the geology and atmosphere of Mars and past, current, and future missions to Mars, while collaboratively exploring, designing, and building with Redstone in Minecraft Education Edition.
The regular camp day runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with Before Care (Morning Explorers) available from 8–8:30 am and After Care available from 3:30–6:00 pm. Campers are grouped by age or grade, and each camp week has a different theme or focus. Individual pre-packaged lunches may be ordered through Schoolhouse Grill for individual days using school code 12340, and the cost for lunches is not included in the camp cost.
Ideaventions Academy Summer Programs are taught by expert teachers, and the faculty members are specialists in their fields, with two-thirds of the staff holding at least a master’s degree and 25% holding PhDs. Ideaventions Academy is an independent school for gifted students who love to learn and specializes in education for intellectually curious learners with a passion for exploring math, science, reading, and writing in an intentionally small setting where students form close bonds with peers.
