The Prizery Pre-K Arts Academy is a beloved six-week program that has introduced generations of Halifax County’s youngest learners to the world of creativity and expression. The program takes place within a larger arts center that makes a wide range of classes available from music to art.

• Ages: 4–5 years old
• Schedule: Six-week sessions; Art Gallery Hours are Wednesday–Friday, 10:00 am–4:00 pm

The Prizery Pre-K Arts Academy has been running for 20 years as part of The Prizery, which is operated by the Community Arts Center Foundation. The mission of the Community Arts Center Foundation, also known as The Prizery, is to enrich lives through the arts, with the belief that arts and cultural experiences should be available to everyone, wherever they live and whoever they are. The Pre-K Arts Academy is a longstanding partnership between The Prizery and Halifax County Public Schools. The organization’s leadership includes Kristy Johnson as Executive Director and Ernelle Bellamy as Technical Director, along with board officers and members Denise Barksdale, Denise Hudson, Ryland Clark, Alisha Rice, Ray Weiss, Sharon Harris, Elizabeth Cunningham, Steve Mize, David Duffer, Ben Owen, and Joe Orenstein. The building that houses The Prizery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the South Boston Historic Tobacco Warehouse District and is considered to be the most architecturally prominent and interesting of the 15 buildings in the 20-acre district.
