• Ages: 6–18 years old
Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center states that its summer camp mission is to provide an overnight camp experience full of outdoor activities that invite campers into a relationship with Jesus Christ by sharing the Gospel, teaching Biblical truths, and encouraging campers to share Jesus’s love in their communities. The broader mission of Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center is to provide a place for the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of kids and adults through camping and retreats so that every life can be changed by Jesus, welcomed into His family, and serving Him.
All counselors at WCRC Summer Camp receive training, including first aid and CPR, and certified lifeguards supervise all pool activities. Campers are lodged in air-conditioned Cabin Village and Laurel Cottage with bunk-style sleeping and a living room area. The camp also offers Christian Day Camp, Mini Camp, Discovery Camp, Explorer Camp, Cornerstone Camp, Solid Rock Camp, Night Owl Camp, Keystone Retreat with specified age ranges, Youth Leadership Training (MLT) for ages 15–17, and Family Camp as an all-inclusive family getaway with a purpose.
Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center reports that it has hosted more than 500 groups over the last 30 years and that in the early 1980s, members of area Mennonite churches decided to build a local camp facility in the Tidewater area of Virginia. Members of these Mennonite churches were involved in founding the camp facility. The organization notes that it offers Christian summer camps in Williamsburg, Virginia, describes the camp as safe, fun, and Christ-centered, and highlights a voluntary and confidential tiered pricing structure to keep camp affordable. It also notes a 4.8+ star rating on both Google and Facebook, a central Mid-Atlantic location near Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, and a pool with a lifeguard always on duty during summer months.
Parent and camper testimonials describe WCRC as “absolutely beautiful” with “friendly staff,” mention that campers “learn more about Jesus” and are “cared for by wonderful, godly counselors and staff,” and say that activities such as the pool, zip line, canoeing and kayaking, camp skits, and games were highlights. One long-time participant reports being involved as a camper for 8 years and a summer counselor for 4 years and calls the camp a “safe haven” that “changed my life.” Other comments mention “great (and nutritious!) food,” “spotless cabins,” a “well-guarded pool,” “constant supervision,” and counselors described as “magical with our kids” and “great ambassadors for Jesus.”
