The Youth and Family Education Programs are part of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, which preserves and exhibits the material history of the U.S. Marine Corps, honors the commitment, accomplishments, and sacrifices of Marines, supports recruitment, training, education, and retention of Marines, and provides the public with universally accessible platforms for the exploration of Marine Corps history. The Museum operates as a public–private partnership between the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and is a participating site in the Virginia 250 Passport Program, a statewide initiative honoring America’s upcoming Semiquincentennial. The Museum and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation co-host a Summer Concert Series featuring premier ensembles from the U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force, and the Museum offers free family-friendly events.

The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation was established in 1979 as a non-profit organization. The National Museum of the Marine Corps was originally accredited by the American Alliance of Museums in 2012 and was reaccredited in 2022. The Museum features world-class interpretive exhibits with innovative technology and unique artifacts, as well as immersive exhibits that surround visitors and immerse them in the sights and sounds of Marines in action.
