About
Blue Ridge Discovery Center Programs include guided hikes, wildlife exploration, stream studies, and eco-crafts. Programs focus on natural history exploration, environmental education, research, and community service, and engage children, teens, adults, professional researchers, and amateur naturalists. Participants learn about geology, astronomy, botany, cultural history, and more with regional expert guides, and explore the diverse flora, fauna, geology, and habitats of the Blue Ridge ecosystem.

Since its founding in 2008, Blue Ridge Discovery Center has offered a wide array of programs through an extensive grassroots network and strong regional partnerships. Field trips align with school curriculum and immerse students in hands-on science activities, with day or overnight options for school programs. The organization also hosts four seasonal weekend events focused on the natural history of spring, summer, fall, and winter in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its mission is: “BRDC inspires curiosity, discovery, and stewardship through the wonders of the Blue Ridge.”
