Jill’s House is a Christian nonprofit organization that loves and serves families of kids with profound intellectual disabilities through short-term, overnight respite care and holistic family support services. The program includes regularly scheduled typical sibling nights, parent support groups, family retreats, an Adult Weeknight Program in Tysons for adults with intellectual disabilities aged 18 and older, weekend stays and day camps at the Tysons location, and a Weekend Adventures camp program around the country. Respite care at Jill’s House is stated to be proven to reduce stress by 60% within the first night. Direct Support Professionals are trained in therapeutic options to provide basic care, assistance with activities of daily living, and activity guidance, and Nursing Staff administer medications, attend to injuries, and care for medical emergencies, with training to attend to a child’s medical needs in a professional and safe way.
“If you’re a parent of a child with special needs and you’re on the fence about Jill’s House, we can’t recommend it enough. Respite is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. Our kids need it, and we, as parents, need it.” - The Ditcharo Family
“Although Jill’s House is his special place, and the experiences are unique for him, we all feel like we have won the lottery. He looks forward to his visits so much that we can’t help but feel grateful in our hearts.” - The Kalata Family
“Unless you have a child with special needs and live the day-to-day underlying stress that that places on a family, and then feel the relief when that is taken away temporarily, I think it would be hard to understand exactly how amazing Jill’s House is for a family like ours.” - The Smith Family
