Founded as a single school in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1998, School of Rock operates with a mission of being a growing and passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education. Its patented music education system includes the School of Rock Method and PROFICIENCY METHOD™, and it combines one-on-one lessons with group band practices in a performance-based approach where students perform at real rock venues. An independent study found that after joining School of Rock programs, 96.2% of parents saw a boost in their child’s self-confidence and 95.9% reported improved teamwork skills.

School of Rock Vienna is part of an organization led by Stacey Ryan (President), Sam Dresser (Chief Innovation Officer), Demi Iskandar (Head of Marketing), Eric Schmidt (Vice President of Information Technology), and Jim Love (Vice President of Domestic Franchise Operations). School of Rock has been ranked #1 in Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 list and named a 2026 Top Franchise. School of Rock Vienna serves kids and adults across Vienna and surrounding areas like Oakton, Tysons Corner, and McLean, and is an after-school destination for students in Fairfax County Public Schools, including Vienna Elementary, Thoreau Middle School, James Madison High School, and Oakton High School; student bands perform at local venues like Jammin' Java and at community-based events including Viva Vienna.
