Summer String Academy

Summer String Academy is a 6-day overnight orchestra camp. The daily schedule includes wake up, breakfast, orchestra rehearsal, camp activity, lunch, rest time, small ensemble, individual practice time, music theory, small group time, dinner, orchestra rehearsal, campfire and snacks, and lights out. It runs July 26-31, 2026, and the price is $710 until April 15, 2026, then $760.

Summer String Academy began in August 2015. Camp director Dave Burfeind is named, and Mo Hampton is listed for registration help and as Registrar. Chase and Christi Chang are described as music educators and orchestra directors. The camp is described as a student-centered orchestra camp and a secular camp for students entering 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade in Fall 2026 who are expected to have at least one year of playing experience in their school string program or equivalent, with some exceptions case by case.

Summer String Academy is a secular camp. Students must be entering 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade and are expected to have at least one year of playing experience in their school string program or equivalent, with some exceptions case by case. A $50 deposit is required. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable unless the event is cancelled. If cancelled more than 14 days prior, refunds are minus the non-refundable deposit. If cancelled less than 14 days out, the full amount is due. No-shows receive no refund. Full tuition is due July 19, 2026.
