About

The Gymnastics Connection offers camp days that include gymnastics, games, contests, races, fun dances, fun group dances, and unique crafts to take home. Campers are placed in camp “buddies” groups and take part in gymnastics rotations along with free time activities.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Full-day camps run 9am–4pm with an order of the day that includes drop off from 8:50–9:05, warm up, gymnastics rotations, lunch brought from home, contests and free time, more gymnastics rotations, snack provided by the gym with a craft, games and free time, and pick up from 3:45–4:00. Mini Camp runs 9am–2pm with the same order in shorter rotations, and is offered for 4 years–3rd grade campers who must be able to use the bathroom on their own. Full-day camps for kindergarten graduates and up are scheduled for June 22–26, July 20–24, and August 17–21, and Mini Camp for 4 years–3rd grade is scheduled for July 27–31.
• Price: Full-day (9am–4pm) camps cost $685 and Mini (9am–2pm) camp costs $595. Families who sign up and pay a non-refundable $100 deposit by April 1 get $50 off the camp spot, and other multi-camp and sibling discounts are also available.

The Gymnastics Connection states that no previous gymnastics experience is required for camp, and that campers are grouped by similar age and skill level. Snack is provided by the gym during camp, and families are asked to send a full water bottle with water only and a lunch with a drink or an additional water bottle, while leaving items such as backpacks, toys, stuffed animals, books, and blankets at home. The program also offers All Day Gym and Play single-day camp options held throughout the summer with four different time slots, and notes that part-time and full-time coaching positions are available.

The Gymnastics Connection states that it believes in teaching gymnastics in a loving and encouraging environment and describes its space as “our great facility.” It offers classes for beginners and advanced gymnasts starting at 18 months old.

Owner Kimberly Smothermon was born in Seattle and grew up in Seattle and Redmond. Her involvement in gymnastics began at age 3, she competed for the Redmond High School gymnastics team, and she continued to coach gymnastics while attending Seattle Pacific University. After coaching for over 10 years, she opened The Gymnastics Connection in 2003 in Woodinville, and the gym moved to Kirkland in 2014.
