Campers can take part in Steve & Kate’s traditions such as Find Chuckie and Friday Pie-Day, as well as an end-of-summer Carnival Day with carnival games, extra treats, and chances to win prizes. The program includes weekly specials that may feature giant inflatables, musical performances, movement workshops, and a popup petting zoo. The camp fee includes tasty meals and snacks, with menus that have rotating specials and healthy snacks and sides that kids can grab whenever they want. Families can buy any number of days and use them on any camp day, drop off and pick up at any time during camp hours, and receive an automatic refund for unused days at the end of summer. The program has Youngest Camper Support Staff dedicated specifically to supporting the youngest campers. As summer approaches, registered families receive a link to a virtual camp orientation with details about local drop-off and pick-up procedures, daily check-in and check-out, what to bring, and other camp details.

The camp’s mission states that during summer, it gives kids freedom to choose which activities they do, whom they do them with, and for how long, and describes this experience as both pure joy and a training ground for life, where they will need to be empowered, independent, resilient, and responsible for their own decisions, ending with the phrase “Happy human-ing starts here.” The leadership team at this site includes a Director named Cassidy. The organization describes its history as starting “way back in 1980,” and notes that it has grown from more than 70 to more than 90 locations “from Manhattan to Manhattan Beach.” The program partners with fan favorite restaurants to provide food that kids enjoy. Testimonials from sources such as Andrew Stanton, Apple’s Hot News, Variety, The Washington Post, and the Chicago Tribune describe children blossoming and discovering a freedom of identity at Steve & Kate’s, compare the camp to a world run by kids, note attendance by children of people at Pixar and Industrial Light & Magic, describe the camp as blending traditional camp with a modern, tech-focused approach, and state that working parents’ worries lessen when they consider the camp’s model.
