About
Seattle Junior Hockey Association runs organized hockey tryouts that follow a set schedule for different youth divisions. All SJHA tryouts are open to players from any association, and no season registration takes place before tryouts. Players must be registered for tryouts to attend, and USA Hockey Registration is required to register for any tryout.
• Schedule: The SJHA Hockey Office keeps hours Monday–Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and 2026 tryouts are scheduled on specific dates and times in April and May for Tier II and Dev Rep divisions.
• Price: Registration prices vary by division and must be paid before tryouts begin, and a $25.00 fee is added to all walk-up registrations.
Seattle Junior Hockey Association lists leadership that includes Marty Rubin as Hockey Director, Ian Armstrong as Associate Athletic Director, Annie Smyth-Hammond as Girls Hockey Director, and Lisa Menzl as Office Administrator/Registrar. The association states that it builds transparency, fairness, and thoughtfulness into its tryout process and does not have “cuts” because it believes all players should have as many chances as possible. It does not force registrations on families and is dedicated to writing feedback for any player or goalie who requests it. All registered players, whether present or absent at tryouts, are considered with Seattle Junior’s Core Values in mind and are placed on teams that are described as best for their development. SJHA is supported by the 220th Street Bingo. If a player cannot attend the scheduled tryout dates, the player must still register and pay for the tryout before the event dates and contact SJHA staff to report the inability to attend.
