Seattle Junior Hockey Association

The Seattle Junior Hockey Association offers Try Hockey For Free, Beginner Hockey, Mites & Mitey Mites, 10+ Recreational Hockey, 10+ Rep/Travel Hockey, and 10+ Girls Rep/Travel Hockey. Try Hockey For Free includes coaches on the ice and provides helmets, skates, and sticks. Beginner Hockey uses two 10-week courses, Hockey 1 and Hockey 2, with station-based practices, and the Mites and 10+ programs include practices, games, and some tournaments.

Programs

• Try Hockey For Free — 4-9 · Fall, winter, spring, and summer; four times a year · Open to all kids aged 4-9. Coaches assist on the ice. Helmets, skates, and sticks are provided. No experience necessary.
• Beginner Hockey — New players; Late Start to Hockey is offered for new players 10+ · Two 10-week courses: Hockey 1 and Hockey 2 · Players learn the fundamentals through fun, station-based practices. Two 10 week courses (Hockey 1 & Hockey 2) are required.
• Mites & Mitey Mites — 8U · Season runs September-March; Mitey Mites 2x per week; Mites 3x per week · Recreational level of play with intra-association games and some tournaments throughout the season. Players receive equal ice time regardless of experience level, skill, or talent.
• 10+ Recreational Hockey — 10+ · Two practices per week and one game per weekend · Recreational play with intra-association games, local league play, and some local tournaments throughout the season. The emphasis is FUN and SAFETY.
• 10+ Rep/Travel Hockey — 10+ · 3 practices each week and at least 2 weekend games · Highest caliber of hockey available at Seattle Junior. Rep teams typically roster 13-17 players. Includes 100+ hours of hockey in a normal season, September-March.
• 10+ Girls Rep/Travel Hockey — 10+ · 3 practices each week and at least 2 weekend games

About the provider

The leadership team includes Marty Rubin, Hockey Director; Ian Armstrong, Associate Athletic Director; Annie Smyth-Hammond, Girls Hockey Director; and Lisa Menzl, Office Administrator/Registrar. SJHA is supported by the 220th Street Bingo!

Players must be registered for tryouts to attend. All SJHA tryouts are open to players from any association. Registration prices vary depending on the division and must be paid prior to the start of tryouts. A $25.00 fee will be added to all walk up registrations. USA Hockey Registration is required to register for any tryout. SJHA does not announce coaches, cost, or any other information until all teams have finished their current seasons.
