Olympic Park Institute (NatureBridge Olympic National Park) opened in Olympic National Park in Washington state in 1987. The mission of NatureBridge is to connect young people to the wonder and science of the natural world, igniting self-discovery and inspiring stewardship of our planet. The educators are well trained. NatureBridge partners with the National Park Service to provide 30,000 students from over 700 schools access to their national parks for discovery, investigation and learning each year. NatureBridge is the largest overnight environmental education partner of the National Park Service. Each year over 4,000 students learn from and connect with Olympic’s landscape on the shore of Lake Crescent. One teacher shared that her kids experienced a sense of wonder and awe as they explored the beauty of this place and that many did not want to go home, and she described the educators as the strongest part of the program, well trained with wonderful enthusiasm.
