About
Storm King Soccer Club offers soccer training, a summer soccer camp, and soccer tryouts. The program emphasizes a creative, attacking, and possession-style of soccer built on strong technical skills and a unified defensive mindset. The club is an all volunteer organization made up of board members, coaches, managers, and many parents.
Agnew Soccer Fields, purchased in 2009 from the Agnew Helpful Neighbors Club with assistance from a Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program matching grant, is maintained by Storm King Soccer Club under an agreement with the County and includes three grass soccer fields marked for 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 play, a restroom and shelter building, a large parking lot, and first aid supplies including ice. During times of limited daylight in late fall and winter, Storm King’s partnership with Peninsula College allows for training at Wally Sigmar Field, which is an artificial turf facility with an 11v11 field, an additional warmup area, lights, bathrooms, and nearby parking.
Storm King Football Club states that it exists to provide quality soccer training for players and to enhance their social, emotional, and physical health in a positive, fun, and safe environment, and that it aims to create and nurture a valuable soccer learning experience. The club’s mission describes a focus on developing skills, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship at all levels of soccer growth, and on empowering players with a lifelong passion and love for soccer. The mission also states that the club seeks to create an environment free from fear of failure, where players can be creative, make mistakes, and grow as players and young adults, and that the motivation to play attractive soccer should be greater than the fear of losing. One testimonial shared by the club is the quote, “I am more concerned if we don’t play good soccer than if we don’t win,” from Guillermo Amor, FC Barcelona Sporting Director.
