About
Storm King Soccer Club offers soccer training and a summer soccer camp. The program uses multiple soccer fields with different game formats, including 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 play.
Agnew Soccer Fields, where Storm King Soccer Club trains, is a 7.2 acre facility that was purchased in 2009 from the Agnew Helpful Neighbors Club with assistance from a Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program matching grant through the State Recreation and Conservation Office. Storm King Soccer Club has an agreement with the County to maintain these fields, which include three grass soccer fields, a restroom and shelter building, a large parking lot, and first aid supplies on site, including ice. During late fall and winter, Storm King Soccer Club partners with Peninsula College so players can train at Wally Sigmar Field, a high-quality artificial turf facility with an 11v11 field, an additional warmup area, lights, bathrooms, and nearby parking.
Storm King Soccer Club states that its mission is to provide the highest level of quality soccer training for players and to enhance their social, emotional, and physical health in a positive, fun, and safe environment. Its vision is to create and nurture a valuable soccer learning experience by having well-educated coaches develop skills, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship at all levels of soccer growth, and to empower players with a lifelong passion and love for soccer. The club’s philosophy is to create an environment where players develop a love of soccer and continue in the sport throughout their lifetime by teaching a unified defensive mindset along with a creative, attacking, possession style of play built on strong technical skills, in an environment free from fear of failure. Storm King FC is an all-volunteer club made up of board members, coaches, managers, and many parents, and it maintains the Agnew Soccer Fields as part of its community involvement. One testimonial the club shares is a quote from Guillermo Amor, FC Barcelona Sporting Director: “I am more concerned if we don’t play good soccer than if we don’t win.”
