About

RTH Aerospace Science Camp is a three day, team, experiential learning academy where campers take part in hands-on activities. The camp introduces key science, engineering, and mathematical concepts that are important to the technology of the aerospace industry. It also includes content that grounds campers in history while asking them to imagine themselves shaping the future.

• Ages: 11–13 years old
• Schedule: Three day sessions held Friday–Sunday, with dates listed as August 7–9, 2026

The program is offered by the Red-Tailed Hawks Flying Club, which is part of Black Pilots of America (BPA), Inc., a non-profit organization established in 1997. The Red-Tailed Hawks Flying Club was founded in 2013 by Jesse Hayes, a former member of the Bronze Eagles, and is the first BPA chapter in Washington. The club states a mission to “Engage, Expose, Educate and Empower” and uses aviation to promote STEM learning, empower aerospace career aspirations, and nurture excellence. It also flies airplanes, promotes pilot proficiency, coaches, mentors, teaches, fuels generational change, and volunteers time and resources. The Red-Tailed Hawks Flying Club is partnering with the Boys and Girls of King County to provide this camp, and Black Pilots of America, Inc. – Washington Chapter is described as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
