Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra serves students ages 8 to 18. The Academic Year Orchestra Program serves over 490 students through 5 full orchestras, rehearses every Saturday, and ends with 3 public concerts. Applications and registration are open for the 2026-27 academic year programs.

Founded in 1942, Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra states a mission of empowering youth through excellence in orchestral education. It is described as one of the leading youth orchestra programs in the United States and the largest youth orchestra training program in the United States. SYSO also supports public school instrumental music programs by providing instruction in 25 Seattle-area public schools serving over 600 students annually, and it has partnerships supporting local public school music education.

Applications and registration are open for SYSO’s 2026-27 academic year programs. Academic Year Orchestra Program serves over 490 students through 5 full orchestras, rehearsing every Saturday and culminating in 3 public concerts. Tuition may be paid in full or in two equal payments. Tuition payments are due regardless of a student’s attendance at prior rehearsals/performances.
