About
Watts Basketball Academy offers elite basketball training and player development, including intensive athletic development and world-class basketball training. The program includes upcoming camps and school’s out camps that run from October to December. Every class, drill, and moment follows a player development system that meets athletes where they are and challenges them just beyond their current ability, with deep, focused repetition and intentional coaching.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Price: $40 off their first watts basketball program
Watts Basketball Academy was founded by Slick Watts and Donald Watts. The program uses basketball to spark joyful self-improvement, focusing on development rather than simply winning games. It teaches strength, concentration, tenacity, and enjoyment of the game, using a growth zone framework with comfort, growth, and panic zones and a pathway to success that focuses on mental, physical, and technical skills, with peak performance treated as an extension of mental preparation. The approach treats practice as the main event, and kids learn to push themselves, stay in the “sweet spot” of difficulty, and discover the joy of progress.
Donald Watts’ coaching expertise and commitment to basketball are described as unparalleled in the Northwest. Slick Watts has earned the NBA J. Walker Kennedy Citizenship Award and has been inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame. Donald Watts won the Gatorade State Player of the Year award, was named Washington’s Mr. Basketball and Eastside Journal’s Prep Athlete of the Year, and Watts ranked #5 in “The Best of the West” rankings in 1995.
The Gamechanger community connected to Watts Basketball Academy includes over 6000 people dedicated to personal excellence on and off the court, and new members receive $40 off their first Watts Basketball program. Testimonials highlight the program’s impact and community, including comments from Aaron Boesch of San Diego State University, NBA Hall of Fame coach and player Lenny Wilkens, former college head coach Trent Johnson, two-time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas, and Watts parent Eric Branner.
