Sound Movement Arts Center was established in 2015 and is in its 11th Anniversary Season. Its mission is to provide high-quality dance and performing arts education in a positive, family-centered environment. The studio offers recreational and competitive programs for students ages 2.5 through high school, with Movement Dance Company (MDC) competitive teams open to dancers ages 6 and up. MDC is described as an award-winning, pre-professional training program for dedicated dancers ages 6–18 who want a performance and competitive track in multiple dance styles. MDC dancers participate in community service, and the program states that it aims to help create dedicated, humble, and team-oriented artists and leaders with lasting memories and friendships.

The program describes itself as a place where passion meets performance and everyone is family, with a positive, family-centered environment and a supportive studio culture where students of all ages and skill levels feel seen, valued, and encouraged. It states that it nurtures each student’s individuality while fostering strong technique, creativity, and confidence, and that it maintains a welcoming, inclusive environment celebrating every dancer regardless of body type, shape, or ability. The season is split into a Fall period focused on skill-building and a Winter–Spring period focused on technique plus recital choreography, followed by a Summer Session in July and August after the June recital. The studio also produces “The Nutcracker - Act 2,” described as a fun, family-friendly version of the classic ballet featuring an all-student cast, with auditions held in August and performances in December. Families can receive updates and event information through a monthly newsletter.
